Cheap Wedding Rings

I have been wearing a $300 wedding ring for 10 yrs now and I want a nicer one, we have $$ but he is pretty cheep. I feel like he is giving me the short end of the stick, i feel insulted.
we Had our 10 year in june, I was under the impression that he got the hint and he didn’t.
Lucky, we have an excellent relationship and I don’t ask for much. A man that makes 6 figures and doesn’t do it frankly IS cheap.
Rosie- F you! I gave birth to 3 children for this man, and I wore a ring that doesn’t resemble ANY type of ring for this long, if I was selfish I wouldn’t have put up with it for so long.

This ring unfortunately is ugly and cannot be "embelished" in any way.. its gold with a blue stone.

well deal is if he spends money on expensive things he likes – for example a new stereo for his car, tivo – a new video game console etc.. then its fair game to get your ring upgraded. If he doesn’t and he also "thrifty" with himself.. then thats a tough one. What i would do is ask for the upgrade as a gift – birthday or anniversary or christmas – then he feels he killing two birds with one stone and you get ahhh the stone.. <g>

Has anyone else ever wondered why typically(but not always) the husbands have less expensive wedding rings. Alot of women (but not all) have their rings appraised and some feel disappointed or unapprciated if they don’t get a ring that atleast looks glamorous and expensive. However, they don’t feel as though buying their soon to be husbands dull and comparativly inexpensive rings is a sign that they don’t care about or appreciate him. This is 2007 and supposedly everyone wants to be EQUAL. Tradition shouldn’t have much baring because traditionally women getting married was a ceremony for basically taking her from her family and GIVING her to her husband. Also traditionally women were mostly housewives. So what’s the deal? This is alittle (alot) off topic but is it ok to hold on to tradition (chivalry, gentlemen-like and lady-like behavior and all of that other crap) when u r getting something good out of it even though it’s not based on equality.
I’m not talking engagement rings per se. However if the woman proposes than yes that can be included. Does she expect an engagement ring even though she proposed. Silly!
Pleasing your wife is all fine and dandy, but what about pleasing your husband. Alot of people would claim sex is pleasing your husband but that’s the biggest load of crap i’ve ever heard.
The ring used to be a bargain because women aren’t EXPECTED to clean anyones home or cook anyones food or raise anyones kids but their own unless they want to. The housewife thing basically over so giving her a ring for her "services" is unreal. And alot of men do place sentimental value on the ring. Some guys don’t but some women don’t either.
I’m sorry but some of the things that i’ve heard r insane. The sexism, the contradictory logic, the complete lack of reason. I can’t believe that so many people still think that these sexist ideas are "ok." Thanks for letting me know that I can buy my gf’s sentimental attachment to me with a ring.

Face facts, you aren’t going to win here. You simply must accept the fact that there will be a double standard.

Understand that when dealing with women on such issues, logic will not prevail. And you will not convince her – no matter what you say.

My approach was this: I bought her the ring she wanted, but I will not wear a ring at all. I don’t even wear a watch, let alone a ring.

She ain’t happy, but at least she didn’t have to come up with $5,000 like I did.

I’d go in person, it’s much better to see what you’re getting instead of online. Believe me it’s not worth it!
